Burton Hills
A very warm welcome to my Travel Sites webpage where I shall journey with you to some very interesting destinations filled with wonderful stories and photos from around the world including my own travel experiences right across Thailand. My passion for travel has taken me to some very amazing far away places mostly in Asia, Africa and Europe. I hope that my story telling will inspire you to travel as much as it inspires me to write about it. I have spent more than twenty years traveling around the world and would love to continue spending the next twenty years on the move. I have decided to start my very first travel website to share with you all my knowledge as we take in the sights and sounds of Thailand. Before I continue with my Thailand travels, I would like to introduce you to some other like minded travellers who would also love to share their amazing stories with you. I hope that you too can travel with me and enjoy some of these wondrous travel destinations. Perhaps we may even meet someday somewhere.

European Travel Sites
I started my travels from the United Kingdom in April 1987 driving the length and breadth of the the continent from Lands End to John O' Groats in an old camper van. Later I crossed the English Channel arriving in France and so my journey in Europe began. I spent the next five months travelling around Holland, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Greece and Turkey. After all these amazing European adventures, I never wanted to go home so now I find every excuse to keep on going. Although the far east has a greater calling for me, I have since been back to Europe many times to visit some of the many friends that I have made here.

Asian Travel Sites
Although I have fallen in love with Thailand, I have also been to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Cambodia many times. I have yet to go to Vietnam, Laos and Burma. What I enjoy most about Asia apart from it's lush tropical settings, is it's wonderful, warm and friendly people, the vibrant cities, the stunning islands and beaches, the fabulous food, the special attractions... and the list just goes on and on. Now you too could easily fall in love with Thailand. I also have many fascinating adventures to tell you about all the other Asian countries to which I have travelled but that would be another story. As soon as I have finished my Thailand website, I shall start a new one in a different country as I continue my story telling adventures from around the world. Please remember that Thailand is very centrally situated for easy travel to other Asian destinations. You will be pleasantly surprised as to how many countries can be reached directly from Bangkok. From here you can cross the border and travel directly to Siem Reab in Cambodia to see the temple Angkor Wat. This fascinating Hindu temple was built in 1181 and is the largest religious site in the world. You can still witness monks practicing their daily ceremonies here.

African Travel Sites
I reside in Cape Town, South Africa and have done some extensive travel around this country as well as it's many neighbours. In 1991 I spent a memorable New Years Eve in Cairo viewing the pyramids before embarking an a fantastic voyage down the Nile to Aswan and lastly to the temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. The journey to Egypt is a trip of a lifetime. You should really try to go there someday. In 2000 I visited friends in Spain after which we crossed the Strait of Gibraltar by ferry to Tangier in Morocco. From there it was up the Atlas mountains to view the world and then down onto the colourful markets of Marrakesh. I am at my happiness the moment the journeys begin and may I add, I am at my saddest the moment the journey ends. As soon as I get back home I'm either writing or preparing for the next trip. I could easily keep on travelling forever. It's the best education ever. I love everything and anything associated with travel and travelling. My friends also love to travel with me so as an open invitation should you ever need a travelling companion, you would only need to ask.

Australian Travel Sites
Visiting travel sites in the outback of Australia probably has a fascination for many a traveller including myself so I have included a few links for your appraisal. Driving from Darwin to Alice Springs in a 4x4 vehicle to visit famous landmarks such as Ayers Rock is a trip which I would dearly cherish. South American Travel Sites
South America is one continent I have yet to visit and more specifically I would love to go to the country of Peru and see the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu high up in the in the Andes mountains. One other interesting site off the beaten track that I have always dreamt about is Easter Island situated in the south-eastern Pacific Ocean. The Island was discovered in 1722 on Easter Sunday by the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen. This Island is inhabited by the Rapa-Nui people and more importantly, it is here where you will find the famous statues called Moai.
