A warm welcome to my online Travel Sites, where I hope to take you on a journey to some seriously interesting destinations. All are filled with wonderful stories and photos from around the world, including my own travel experiences throughout Thailand. My passion for travel has taken me to some truly amazing places far away from home, mostly in Asia, Africa and Europe. I hope that my storytelling will inspire you to travel as much as it inspires me to write about it.
I have spent more than twenty years travelling around the globe and would love to continue spending the next twenty years on the move. I have decided to start my very first travel website to share with you all my knowledge as we take in the sights and sounds of Thailand.
But before I continue with my Thailand travel stories, I'd like to introduce you to other like-minded travellers who would also love to share their amazing stories with you. I hope that you too can travel with me and enjoy many of these wondrous travel destinations. And perhaps we may even meet someday, somewhere, far away.
I started my travels from the United Kingdom in April 1987 driving the length and breadth of the continent from Lands End to John O' Groats in an old camper van. Later I crossed the English Channel arriving in France and so my journey in Europe began. I spent the next five months travelling around Holland, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Greece and Turkey.
After all these European adventures, I never wanted to go home so now I find
every excuse to keep on going. Although the far east has a greater
calling, I have been back to Europe many times to visit all the friends I have made there. See more European Travel Destinations
Although I have fallen in love with Thailand, I have also been to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Cambodia many times. I have yet to go to Vietnam, Laos and Burma. What I enjoy most about Asia apart from its lush tropical settings, is its wonderfully, warm and friendly people, the vibrant cities, the stunning islands and beaches, the fabulous food, the special attractions... and the list just goes on and on. Now you too could easily fall in love with Thailand.
I also have many fascinating adventures to tell you about all the other Asian countries to which I have travelled but that would be another story. As soon as I have finished my Thailand website, I shall start a new one in a different country as I continue my storytelling adventures from around the world. See more Asian Destinations
Please remember that Thailand is very centrally situated for easy travel to other Asian destinations. You will be pleasantly surprised as to how many countries can be reached directly from Bangkok. From here you can cross the border and travel directly to Siem Reap in Cambodia to see the temple Angkor Wat. This fascinating Hindu temple was built in 1181 and is the largest religious site in the world. You can still witness monks practising their daily ceremonies here.
I reside in Cape Town, South Africa and have done some extensive travel around this country as well as its many neighbours. In 1991 I spent a memorable New Years Eve in Cairo viewing the pyramids before embarking a fantastic voyage down the Nile to Aswan and lastly to the temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. The journey to Egypt is a trip of a lifetime. You should really go there someday.
In 2000 I visited friends in Spain and then crossed the Strait of Gibraltar by ferry to Tangier in Morocco. From there it was up the Atlas mountains to view the world and then on to the markets of Marrakesh.
I'm at my happiest the moment the journey begins and I'm at my saddest the moment the journey ends. As soon as I get back home, I'm either writing or preparing for my next trip. I love nothing better than to keep on travelling.
It's the best education I could ever ask for. I love everything associated with journeying to the far corners of the earth. My friends also love to travel the world with me, and as an invitation, that shouldn't stop you from asking to be part of my travelling buddies. See more African Travel Destinations here.
Visiting travel sites in the outback of Australia probably have a fascination for many a traveller, including myself. Driving from Darwin to Alice Springs in an all-terrain 4x4 vehicle to visit famous landmarks such as Ayers Rock, is a road trip I still want to accomplish sometime soon. South America is one continent I have yet to visit and more specifically, I'd love to visit Peru to see the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu high in the Andes mountains. Another interesting site off the beaten track I've always dreamed about is Easter Island, situated in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. The Island was discovered in 1722 on Easter Sunday by the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen. The island is inhabited by the Rapa-Nui people and more importantly, it's where you'll find the Moai statues.
