This extremely balletic sport is played by young males who exhibit extraordinary agility and speed in order to get a good strike. Although the principals of the game are the same, there are various versions of competitiveness. The most popular classical style consists of teams competing against each other while trying to get the ball into a basketball type net as many times as possible in a set time period. It speaks for itself that the team who scores the most, wins the game. Another version frequently played in school tournaments including the southeast Asian Games is called Sepak Takraw. This particular form of Takraw is played over a volleyball net with two or three teams competing. You will find all three located within close proximity to each other at Siam Square in Rama I Road. To get there, take the sky train to Siam Station and then follow the signs all the way to Siam Square. Check the Bangkok Post and The Nation for daily schedules. Ticket prices range from 100 to 200 baht. Remember to stand when the king's anthem is played before each performance. Hollywood films arrive in Thailand soon after they debut in the United States and retain all original soundtracks. British and European productions are less common. Rather than having these movies dubbed, they have Thai subtitles. Many locally made Thai films are now supporting English subtitles so if you are lucky enough to come across one, you should consider the alternative and give one of them a try.
