Not only is the Thailand entertainment scene so extremely diversified, it's also fully-loaded with lots of fabulous fun-filled activities for all age groups. Add to this a lustrous and electrifying atmosphere and you have a perfect pleasure-built recipe that's simply hard to beat.
The Thai phrase sanuk means to have fun and this all embracing action is meant for every occasion, be it a religious festival, a song-filled night out at a beer bar, folk music club or classical concert, muay Thai boxing, a game of takraw or the latest international or Thai movie. Just go out there and grab your slice of sanuk.
While all the signs of traditional entertainment still flourishes, modern Thailand has adopted many foreign pursuits from Hollywood movies to karaoke. There's more than enough entertainment to satisfy all tastes. So much so that on many occasions, it's going to be difficult to know where to start or more importantly, when to stop.
There are gaming arcades, movie multiplexes, traditional theater and dance, puppet shows, musical performances, concerts, cabaret and comedy, temple fairs and festivals, disco's clubs and pubs, exhibitions and so much more. Where to go and what to do is all part of the fun.
All these seemingly endless recreational activities are for you to enjoy to the absolute fullest. Thai's want to see you having a good time and will go to great lengths to make sure that your stay in Thailand is one of the very best ever. The entertainment hub in this land of smiles is virtually non stop for all who dare.
Sepak Takraw

Takraw
Whether you are in Bangkok or any of the seaside resorts of Pattaya or Phuket, you may get just get an opportunity to come across the game of Takraw being played in a public park, a temple compound or perhaps even in a backstreet ally.
This game has a pretty much acrobatic focus with the intention being to keep a
woven rattan ball
in the air and off the ground while using any part of your body except your hands. This extremely balletic sport is played by young males who exhibit extraordinary agility and speed in order to get a good strike.
Although the principals of the game are the same, there are various versions of competitiveness. The most popular classical style consists of teams competing against each other while trying to get the ball into a basketball type net as many times as possible in a set time period. It speaks for itself that the team who scores the most, wins the game.
Another version frequently played in school tournaments including the southeast Asian Games is called Sepak Takraw. This particular form of Takraw is played over a volleyball net with two or three teams competing.
Sometime these games introduce more complex rules permitting players to emphasize their own individual abilities. Kicking the ball backwards with their heels through a ring made with their arms behind their back, is one such skill. Not an easy task to say the least. Points are awarded according to each player who displays a more unique expertise rather than just the goal being scored.

Cinema and Theater
Ever since the early 1990's all the latest Hollywood block-buster movies have taken the Thailand entertainment industry by storm. Bangkok now has huge movie theaters and multiplexes, many of which can be found in shopping malls.
These upscale cinema complexes are surprisingly plush too and many have very big lounge chairs for you to recline in. Ushers at some of these theaters even hand out pillows, blankets and socks to add extra comfort for your viewing pleasure. Wow! it's just like watching the wide screen while flying first class.
One of the biggest movie cinemas is the Grand EGV Cinema complex near the well-known
MBK shopping center.
Others theaters include The Siam, The Lido and The Scala. You will find all three located within close proximity to each other at Siam Square in Rama I Road. To get there, take the sky train to Siam Station and then follow the signs all the way to Siam Square. Check the Bangkok Post and The Nation for daily schedules. Ticket prices range from 100 to 200 baht. Remember to stand when the king's anthem is played before each performance.
Hollywood films arrive in Thailand soon after they debut in the United States and retain all original soundtracks. British and European productions are less common. Rather than having these movies dubbed, they have Thai subtitles. Many locally made Thai films are now supporting English subtitles so if you are lucky enough to come across one, you should consider the alternative and give one of them a try.
