Retirement Visa for Thailand
I bet that information for a Thailand Retirement Visa is the real reason you have arrived at this page. Then like myself, you have whole-heartily fallen in love with the Kingdom and would now like to know how possibly it is to retire in what must be one of the most beautiful places in the world. I have travelled to many countries around the world but there is nothing quiet like that which comes this close to the charm, warmth and beauty of Thailand and it's people here. Besides the wonderful weather, there is just so much more that drives many foreign nationals to this special place. If you've been to Thailand before and not simply read all those excellent editorials and seen all those beautiful brochures and darling documentaries which appear throughout the western world, would it not be wonderful if you could be part of that perfect world where only real dreams are made. I bet it would and for a few good men, it is a real possibility though money will certainly cement the journey a heck of a lot quicker. The bigger the bucks, the smoother the road becomes for you to join this expat club.
The Thailand Elite Membership Club
For those of you who have buckets of cash to splurge, the reality of your dream not only becomes that much clearer but also that much closer too. Though expensive at between one and two million baht, depending on your status, it is now possible to apply for a Thailand Elite Membership Card which in itself, comes with a number of awesome benefits. Should some of you be lucky enough to belong to the privileged few and are able to afford the enormous cost, you just might be accepted into this special scheme. Most notably, membership brings with it a special five-year visa which automatically gives you travel privileges and subject to certain limitations, the right to own land. How grand is that. I am not sure whether you can apply for the elite membership card at an embassy in your home country but you can certainly apply for one at the Thai Consulate in Bangkok. For those of you, (and that means the majority of us), who do not have significant monetary means, you can apply for an ordinary retirement visa at a Thai Consulate in your home country or you could apply for one at a Thai Consulate in Thailand. With best wishes and good luck to you all.
How to Apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa
To apply for a retirement visa in your home country you need to ask for a Non-Immigrant O-A Category Visa while in the Thai Kingdom the same retirement visa is known as a Non-Immigrant O Category Visa. In each case you can either apply for a single or multiple entry visa. If you are not going to do any other travelling and you wish stay in Thailand during your retirement, then a single entry will be fine. If you are like me and need to constantly explore the earth, then a multiple entry is a must. Once you have all your documentation in order and you have arrived in Thailand, you will be given permission to stay for 90 days. Towards the end of this term, you will need to go to a local Immigration office where you will receive a further 90 daysafter completing a TM47 form showing you current address and phone number. And that's it for another 90 days.
