Joni Anwar, also known as Joni Raptor was born in Bangkok on August 30th 1981 with an ancestry part Indonesian and part Scottish. Many of you will know Joni as a Thai pop singer who started his early singing career as a twelve year old rap artist. In August 1994, together with thirteen year old Louis Scott, they released their self-titled debut album. It went on to sell over a million copies, which in Thailand, is considered a big accomplishment.
Joni and Louis became super stars with their hit song Kid Thung Ter and soon after that Super Hero and Kum Wa Peun were also in the charts. It was to forever change their lives. However four years later their group Raptor disbanded. After doing a little stint with his younger brother, Joni embarked on a solo career and released three more albums.
In the mid nineties, Joni and Louis were the youngest singers in Thailand and at the very height of their fame, their clothing style appealed to so many thousands of young fans that it soon became chic fashion icons. Teen idols loved dressing up like the famous rap stars with some even copying their roller-blade and skate-boarding craze.
