Celebrating Songkran in Bangkok
Festivities and Events
Songkran
festivities are celebrated in the hot season during the month of April and you are more than welcome to join in this infamous water throwing event. Traditionally young Thai people will grab hoses, buckets and water pistols for "attacks" on anyone and everyone, day and night. Once you are drenched with water then sometimes talcum powder is thrown in for "good" measure. Normally this festivity would be reserved for Thai people only, but you may never know as other tourists might want to attack you as well. All the very best of luck to you.
The Candle Festivities
held in July celebrates the commencement of Khao Phansa with a truly spectacular event. Beautifully decorated beeswax candle processions are ceremoniously paraded around the city before being presented to the temples.
Visakka Bucha
festival is celebrated during the rainy season in late May and early June, and marks Buddhism's holiest date when Lord Buddha was born, enlightened and died. Be warned
