Was it simply because one of the Dumbest Kids in Thailand was caught on camera stealing a laptop computer from his school, that four more simpletons were later to find themselves sucked into a web of dishonesty and deception.
I think we all at some stage of our lives, have an inherent desire to genuinely receive something for free whether it comes from performing a good deed or we procure it out of love for another. There are also those who undeserving prefer to prosper from ill-gotten gains to enrich their sorrowful lives.
The star of the show in this case was that of an eighteen year old teenager who thought he might become the new proud owner of a laptop computer lying helplessly on a table top at his school. What he was unaware of was the recently installed CCTV camera that had captured his every move. His actions were soon brought to the attention of the local authorities, which gave little excuse as to the youths identity.
The police were soon to discover that this kid thief had offered the laptop to a third person for the silly sum of around 30 English pounds which amounted to little over 2,000 baht. While questioning the accused, the purchaser was revealed and subsequently hauled in answer allegations brought against him.
Whilst accusations were flying back and forth, a phone call was received from a lady friend of the laptop purchaser offering to settle the matter with a sum of around 430 English pounds or 30,000 baht. Suddenly the price had gone up quite considerably. Was this perhaps a bribe of some sorts or was it a genuine offer. Who knows what the laptop could have fetched on auction.
Laptop Computer up for Grabs
It seemed that there were quite a few individuals who wanted to get their grubby paws on this item. It turned out that the new offer was actually for the release of the laptop purchaser. No sum of money was offered for the kid caught on camera. Perhaps the price for the release of the kid was too high a price to pay and that the laptop would now become priced out of the market.
The lady who made the original offer to the police also brought in another lady accomplice to the station. Was this supposed to be some kind of backup! It soon back-fired. Don't these dimwits know that too many cooks will eventually spoil the broth. This was surly a case of too many crooks eventually contradicting their silly stories. The ladies argued that it was unknown to them that the laptop in question was in fact stolen.
Police weren't buying any of this
It transpired that other than this kid, these culprits worked together and were trying to systematically cover up their dirty deeds. Shame on them. Only the kids confession had any real depth regarding the theft. In many cases kids who are caught for their wrongful actions are more inclined to spill the beans. Older counterparts would rather resort to a more rigorous regime.
The bad dudes here found themselves cornered and consequently charged with bribery and trying to defeat the ends of justice. They will now have to await judgement day which can be a tad embarrassing to say the least.
If it would help I can offer a few words of wisdom to all those considering a career opportunity as one of Thailand's dumbest kids. If you are wanting to make a profession out of stealing, the first lesson to learn is to make damn sure you don't get caught on camera. If it's your desire to get caught on camera, it's best to dress up as Superman, Spiderman or Batman because that way you could be perceived as a hero and be rewarded for your efforts.
